Hi Iwao,

No, I am not a Japanese. The name (Kenji) was given by one of my teachers when I attended a Japanese language school in Tokyo because it was hard for him to pronounce my Indonesian name. :)

Yes, as you said, when we order katsudon or katsujyu in Japan, the fried breaded meat which topped over rice together with egg and vegetable is usually pork (tonkatsu).

Since you have visitted Medan more than once, do you know if there is any Japanese restaurant in Medan which serves tonkatsu?

Thank you for your contribution to MedanKu.com Kenji,
by the way, if it is not too much to ask, since you are well spoken in English,
could you write your review for the food posts in English for us for MedanKu.com.

We could translate it but, it will be better if it is from you.
We will post the Bahasa version in MedanTalk.com

Thank You!

Of course! I am very glad you will do that. And please mind that when I said: "Medanese hawker food is the BEST in Indonesia" in my earlier post in this thread, that is the comment from a non-Medanese.

I live in Manado now and am not a Medanese. Maybe you will be surprised to know the main purpose I went to Medan February this year is for tasting and taking the photos of Whore Rice (Nasi Lonte) and Kwetiauw Shen Tien Shia. I was an active member of www. sendokgarpu.com until the end of May 2009 (stopped as I don't like the new moderator). These 2 Medanese dishes have been mentioned many times at the forum but nobody there knew how those 2 dishes looked like. Curious, I went to Medan via Kuala Lumpur by Air Asia (cheaper than via Jakarta as I didn't have to pay Fiskal) ;) .

Below are my articles on Nasi Lonte and Kwetiauw Shen Tien Shia. Maybe interesting for Medanese to see how a Manadonese explore Medanese food in Medan. :)
