Sushi Tei Shop Japanese Restaurant at Sun Plaza
There are several Japanese restaurant in Medan including:
- KOKO Japanese Restaurant at Grand Angkasa Hotel
- Tenya Japanese (was at Capital Building) now Wasabi
- Itcho Japanese Restaurant at Sun Plaza
- Atami Japanese Restaurant at Danau Toba Hotel
- Sushi Tei Japanese Restaurant
- Wasabi Japanese Restaurant at Capital Building
- Zhuma Japanese Resto (soon to open at soon to be open Cambridge Mall)
- Sushi Teo SHOP at Sun Plaza
After successfully serving the people of Medan for more than a year, the popular Sushi Tei restaurant ( a franchise from Singapore Sushi Tei ) has opened another branch in Sun Plaza located at lower ground near the drop off point and parking lot. This is their third branch after opening their second in Sydney last year! Yes, Sydney – Australia!

At the entrance there is a waiting area with several freezers of ice cream and probably other Japanese frozen food for you to choose and take away! Did you notice the sign says “SUSHI TEI SHOP” which implies a “SHOP” at the entrance.

The branch at Sun Plaza is surprisingly big.
But be warned:
If you are a Medanese and hold a UOB credit card, I am sure you have been dining at Sushi Tei main branch enjoying 25% discount for awhile. Dont assumed the new branch will have the same promotion as the UOB promotion does not apply at Sun Plaza branch as we sadly found out

The service is extremely slow, I prefer the main branch, dont know the name of the street but it is very close to Sun Plaza
the main branch is located at jalan tengku daud.
btw good info for the zhuma resto.
Medan’s Sushi Tei is inferior to it’s other branches like Jakarta or Singapore, the food is not fresh nor good and service is slow, their business is good coz young people like to hang out there. I would recommend Atami but they are closed. Try Wasabi Nami instead (freshnes is so-so for raw food, but other cooked item is good)
