Arguably one of THE BEST CHINESE food stall / restaurants one can experience in Medan, Rumah Makan 31 Pari House is located on a small street right in the middle of town. Near to pasar Petisah from Jalan Gatot Subroto, turn into the small street of Jalan Kota Baru 2 No.31, (Yes, thats the shop number and the name of the restaurant) you will find this shop house restaurant
It has been around for a couple of years and though this may not be a fancy luxury restaurant, but a Malaysian Chinese and highly experienced chef is the owner here who will wipe out the dishes himself personally.
The infamous Fried Eggplant is a must try dish, and the Pare Fish in special chilli paste is just as fantastic.
Other dishes served are duck, fish cake, soup, sweet and sour pork, fried pork with chillies and many other varieties of pork dishes. There are special dishes daily which are written on the white board. The dishes are all reasonably priced. The bill for a typical lunch for four people, with four dishes and drinks is about Rp200.000
The food stall is simple non-air conditioned shop house but many customers prefer to sit on the table laid outside (open air) during the night. Do note that Rumah Makan 31 Pare House is close on Mondays
