Lake Toba Tourism Event : Pesta Danau Toba 2009

In 2008, the government of Sumatera Utara province successfully organized “PESTA DANAU TOBA” event as part of core tourism event in North Sumatra which was also presented by the President of Indonesia Soesilo Bambang Yudhoyono and several cabinet ministers.

Due to its success, the event will be organized yet again as PESTA DANAU TOBA 2009 which has become part of VISIT INDONESIA YEAR 2009 and has been officially published in tourism calender all over the world featuring Danau Toba / Lake Toba as one of the key tourist destination of Indonesia.

The event will be held between 7 – 11 October 2009 in the main town of Parapat. To participate in the event and for all information regarding the event, please contact the organizer through email at pestadanautoba@yahoo.com
Some event highlights include:

1. Opening ceremony of Pesta Danau Toba 2009 on 7 October 2009 at Main Stage of Parapat.
2. Exhibition of Pesta Danau Toba 2009: featuring key products and produce of North Sumatra between 7 – 11 October 2009 at Convention Hall, Parapat
3. Decorating Boats Festival as a carnival festival for boats operates at Parapat on 7 – 11 October 2009 (Carnival on: 10 October 2009) in the lake of Parapat.
4. Decorating Shops / Kiosk Competition, Competition between shop owners of Parapat to beautify their shops and improve their services during PDT 2009 on 7 – 11 October 2009 around Parapat.
5. Fishing Competition, on 10 October 2009 at Hotel Inna -Parapat.
6. Smart Children Competition like drawings etc. for kindergarden, primary schools children around Danau Toba on 10 – 11 October 2009 at Convention Hall, Parapat.
7. PARAPAT TOURING of motor cycles Club from North Sumatra on 10 – 11 October 2009 around Parapat.
8. BAZAAR & PASAR MALAM, activity bazaar of food and souveniers between 7 – 11 October 2009 at Open Space – Convention Hall, Parapat.
9. Activity Hess by Club Hess Siantar
10. MARCHING BAND, demonstrations from North Sumatra on 8 – 10 October 2009 noon at Panggung Utama – Parapat
11. News writer / journalistic Competition, for the best news about the Activities of PDT 2009 for all journalists.
12. Walk Healthy – JALAN-JALAN SEHAT, Competition for individuals, residents around Parapat including tourists.
13. Beach Volleyball Competition – VOLI PANTAI for general public men & women on 8 – 11 October 2009, at Pantai Sosor Pasir -Parapat.
14. Boat Rowing Competition DAYUNG – Solu Mardua for public on 8 October 2009, morning, at lake near Parapat (Start & Finish at Pantai Sosor Pasir)
15. Swimming Competition RENANG for men on 9 October 2009, morning,  at lake near Parapat (Start & Finish at Pantai Sosor Pasir)
16. Cultural Stage PENTAS art-BUDAYA, performance of art-culture traditional from several etnic group of North Sumatra on 8-10 October 2009, at 15:00 -18:00 at Panggung Terbuka Parapat.
17. Local Dance FESTIVAL TARI DAERAH SE-KAWASAN Danau TOBA, dance competition from daerah antar Kontingen se-kawasan Danau Toba on 7 – 11 October 2009 at Panggung Convention Hall Parapat.
18. Stage Entertainment GEBYAR PANGGUNG Danau TOBA, performance and entertainment of modern and comtemporary arts every night by artistes and musicians from North Sumatra and Jakarta on 7 – 11 October 2009, every night (19:30 – 24:00) at Panggung Terbuka Parapat.
19. Exhibition of Art & Crafts, GELAR art UKIR TRADITIONAL, from all areas of Danau Toba on 7 – 11 October 2009 at Convention Hall Parapat.
20. Exhibition of Art and Cloths, GELAR art TENUN KAIN TRAatSIONAL, from all areas of Danau Toba on 7 – 11 October 2009 at Convention Hall Parapat.
21. Miss Danau Toba Pageant 2009, PEMILIHAN PUTERI Danau TOBA 2009, tourism and cultural  pageant for North Sumatra on 10 – 11 October 2009 at Convention Hall
22. Closing Ceremony ACARA PENUTUPAN PDT 2009, the peak of the event with performances from artiste and musicians from North Sumatra and Jakarta, on 11 October 2009 at Panggung Utama Parapat.
