The Pak Tung Tung character has become the story of Medan’s life and news or even gossip! The success of Pak Tung Tung comes from the artist ability to capture the moment and the story of Medan in 3 pictures. It even won a cartoonist award and was chosen to be used as one of Indonesia’s cartoon stamp series becoming the pride of Medan.

    I just came back from Medan last week. Went there and stayed at Garudacitra hotel near masjid raya.
    Its interesting to find out that the month of Ramadhan being celebrated much more different from Malaysia. The crowd during open fast were huge & after the Tarawikh prayer, followed by concert of songs which attract not only for the oldies, definitely for the young as well. Malaysia does’t change from before, just for the sake of praying, praying & praying….which will never attract the young people at all…..Sorry about your Pak Tungtung
    which I never come across before…probably it is just like ours ” The Kampung boy” by Datuk Lat…
