Aryaduta Hotel in Medan Finally Opens Restaurant Service Very Slow
We just went to have dinner at the newly opened Aryaduta Hotel in Grand Palladium Mall Medan. The restaurant’s name is “The Kitchen” surprisingly there is only ONE restaurant/cafe in the hotel. ( Hotels usually have 3 cafes & restaurants ) The Kitchen serves Japanese, Western, Chinese and Indonesian Food all in one place.
The place is nice, the atmosphere is as expected as a 5 star hotel, the food is not bad, although a little over price for Medan’s standard. The most disappointing part was the service. It was terrible considering it is a 5 star hotel managed by the Grand Hyatt. We werent being shown the menu when we were seated, we have to ask for it. No drinks were served and we waited for 1.5 hours before we get our drinks and dinner. Asking for the bill took awhile too. Even the management (expat) was furious with the service, we can see him in flames with the staff!
Hopefully, the service will improve over time, although The Kitchen just opened, we couldnt see any reason for it to provide such poor service from an experienced hotelier. The price? hopefully can be reduced to Medan standard too.

Thanks for the information on your latest restaurant, and I could not put a comment on the site because I have not try it yet. But, in the event when I am next in Medan, I will give it a go and after I will definately put in a word or two ok.

Aryaduta Hotel Medan.
I had a different experience staying in Aryaduta Medan. I was informed by a friend that a new 5 star hotel is now open in Medan, and i decided to try as i’m having frequent travel to Medan. It was totally different from any other hotels here. I instantly felt welcome there. The room’s modernly furnished. The staffs were all smiling (hopefully this goes on and on) and friendly. Comfortable. Food was good. My fave moment there was when i had coffe by the pool on the eve, with the sound of water from the fountain and soft breeze, it was like not in Medan but in a resort of an island somewhere. It was cozy and soothing. Clearly it’s a new opening hotel, surely there are weaknesses here and there, but it’s not such a big deal, it’ll improve to the better i’m sure.I don’t think there are any hotels in the world where they are completely perfect without defect during their first days. It’s just normal. Why all the fuss ?
Actually at 1st time, i was suprised, “Why aryaduta hotel can open in medan?” Maybe in a small areas, exactly in 9th Floor Grand Palladium Mall, The Aryaduta Hotel was opening. After i stay in there, i was upset. How come a small areas in there can be conjure up a hotel with 200 more rooms and a nice swimming pool with a drain up water from the fountain. In there i feel like i was in my own apartment. Not like a hotel. Design is minimize and unique. I was also felt welcome in there. All staff in the FRONT OFFICE TEAM were smiling face. Service in there is good. And i was like because there is a several staff in FO staff can speak mandarin and hokkian as well. And about service in The KITCHEN Restaurant is little bit slow was right. But, I think is okay. ‘coz that is a new hotel. Surely, this will be improve the staff in restaurant to be the better. I hope The Aryaduta Hotel can be the best Hotel in Medan. And hopely in short time, i can be see you all again. Of course in Medan…
Yes, we are pleased to have a new 5 star hotel in Medan and definitely welcome the New Aryaduta Hotel in Grand Palladium Mal Medan.
The restaurant’s atmosphere and food are as we said “good” hopefully the service will improve.
Actually about 3 weeks ago, I have seen an advert in the local newspaper that Aryaduta is looking for a “team” of staff for the restaurant. From Manager, Cook to Waiters…
